Damage to overhead wires has caused the cancellation of all trains on the Fen Line, between Cambridge and King's Lynn in Norfolk. Train operator Great Northern , external said the damage had happened between Ely in Cambridgeshire, and the west Norfolk town on Monday. London King's Cross-King's Lynn services have been cancelled, while the number of King's Cross-Ely trains has been reduced, a spokesperson said.
The disruption was expected to last all day and passengers have been advised to check journeys before they depart. Those travelling between Cambridge and Ely can use their tickets on Great Anglia and Cross Country trains at no extra cost, according to Great Northern. The spokesperson said: "The overhead line fault is causing damage to the pantographs — the arm which extends from the top of the train to draw power from the overhead lines — on our trains.
"These trains are currently in the process of being repaired, meaning that fewer trains than normal are currently available." Engineers began working at the affected site overnight. Travellers have been advised to claim back fares using the delay-repay system. Do you have a story suggestion for Cambridgeshire?
